Perhaps oddly, I'm much less cynical now than when I was younger. Couldn't pick a poll thingy, though, because 'life is what you make of it' is stark wrong, since horrible things can happen to perfectly reasonable competent people; 'it gets better and better' is way too many tranquilizers the other side of reality; and 'take a pill bitch' is just mean.

Either more cynical or more realistic.

The reverse for me. :dunno:

Hard to say. When I'm depressed over how many of my friends in life have become Christians, including family members, or when people like George Bush the Stupider can be elected and then re-elected, I feel like I just want to vacuum up everyone and dump the bag. Also, working in the public sector for 14 years left me disillusioned (or educated) about how small-town politics works, which doesn't match up with what I would have said 14 years earlier.
But then, when I get out—literally get out, away from news, blogs, online pissing contests, and even stuff I find stimulating or with which I agree—and engage people in conversations, or just feel the sun on my face, people (and life in general) seem less shrouded in doom and gloom. I don't know if these two worlds are skewed versions of reality, or I just don't leave my house until I'm in a good enough mood do deal with all the assholes out there. :D

I used to be much more cynical than I am now. Every news item was either a manifestation of pure Machiavellianism in the political sphere, pigheaded ignorance on the social or naked, shortsighted selfishness on the personal levels. I still consider every action as ultimately selfish, but their results not as uniformly and utterly deleterious as before.

I've definitely developed a more cynical outlook, but my attitude is less cynical, if that makes any sense.
People are horrible, but it doesn't bother me the way it used to :D

Life keeps getting better and better! I'm in a pretty happy relationship and also school is so frantically hectic that I don't have enough time to feel even slightly depressed about anything, ever. I love being busy.

Less cynical over time, more philosophical. None of the poll categories quite fit.

Life ... is so ... I don't have enough time ... I love being busy.

^^^In other words, and for me, "Life IS what [I] make of it."

Less cynical over time about other people being naturally good, though sometimes disappointing - and, with that, more cynical in terms of ideology - people's will to change their circumstances, etc. Complacency will kill all the good, creative, intelligent people... allows the dull and stupid to excel.
