Cunt 2nd February 2012, 02:28 PM So last week, someone parked outside our house and when they stepped out of their vehicle, they stepped into water. It was January, and about -20C, so this was unusual enough that they called the City of Yellowknife. The City leak detection truck came out, asked us to let them in the house, and investigated. After putting some sort of instrument on our pipes (and a few of our neighbours) they told us that it was likely our water pipe frozen. We still have water in the house, but they have a weird rig up here where there are two lines coming from the main at the street, and a circulating pump in our home to keep the water moving and protect from freezing. Anyway, it turns out that if the leak is more than a certain distance from the main, it is our problem. The city has a scheme where they assist us with fixing it.
