Dawkins droning on about muslims again page 1

Dawkins (http://richarddawkins.net/discussions/644919-discussion-thread-for-one-law-for-all-rally-london-or-anywhere-in-the-world/comments?page=1#comment_916705) is back on his hobby horse, with his write-up of today's so-called One Law for All rally. He's forgotten, obviously, that in England there is only one law - english law - so why he's started campaigning for something that's already in place Christ only knows. I hope when he next hobnobs with the Archbishop of Canterbury, aside from heaping vast amounts of excessive praise on him (he's a white englishman, you see as opposed to an Germano-Italian or Shi'ite Iranian), Richard will ask Rowan Williams to extract an answer from his superiors.

In the meantime we'll have to assume he's yet again targeting what's known as Sharia Law, which actually isn't a law in England and Wales, and never will be. In some cases it seems, muslims are resorting to the vile, barbarian practice of settling civil matters out of court using a panel of their choosing. Settling out of court for muslims is not considered to be an acceptable practice in Dawkins household. As Richard knows, pursuing matters in court is the only sensible way forward when you have a dispute with anyone.

So he hears some hearsay about the London Student Unions' motives for seeking to defend muslims by "taking the side of the islamist wingnuts". And the hearsay is what he wants to hear - it's the Socialist Workers' Party, apparently, they are the cause of the trouble. Fantastic, an opportunity for Richard Dawkins - the apolitical, Coalition-voting muslim-bashing old bigot - to show his contempt for the Left, as if we hadn't already guessed.

One can't help feeling that whenever the word muslim hits Richard Dawkins's cerebral cortex it immediately gets translated as 'islamist wingnut' as an involuntary reflex. Oh well. So some people come up to him afterwards and tell him about the terrible lack of freedom of many muslim women. I don't doubt them. But somehow I doubt Richard Dawkins. The hearsay continues to fall into place rather too nicely.

"I told Maryam that I would like to collect instances of exactly this: British police refusing to take action over Muslim brutality against women, on the grounds that "It's part of their culture."" Er... yes, Richard, I said I would like you to collect instances of that two years ago, during a previous round of horror stories about the sluggishness of the British police in dealing with assault, rape, actual bodily harm and various other things. So - haven't you collected any instances yet? You've had two years.

No? And two years down the line? We'll see, Richard. We'll see.
