The autofocus doesn't work unless I do it by hand a couple turns first. I already sent it in once for this, so this is round 2.

How long have you had it?

I purchased it in September 2011, from The Camera Store in Calgary, AB (http://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=calgary%20camera%20store&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CFQQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thecamerastore.com%2F&ei=EcAxT6mHCaqWiALjpumbCg&usg=AFQjCNFvjPZftr-zSYJaYEdA63b89qZL-A). A couple of months ago, I had this problem and sent it back. They replaced the focus motor and something else, then cleaned it up and sent it back.

The problem reappeared even worse, and I am sending it back tomorrow. (I was reluctant to give up that baby, even malfunctioning it is a beautiful thing to behold.

As a matter of fact, I am also sending in my K-5 for what seems to be a common problem with the shutter.

It's worse when I have a fully charged battery, but the mirror/shutter triggers with every button push. It doesn't take any photos, but it is still distracting (plus it is using up my mirror and associated hardware...)

So I will be limited to my small camera (http://www.dpreview.com/news/2011/2/7/pentaxwg1gps), maybe end up buying something else to bridge the gap...(the K-01 looks pretty special...) I am going to wait on the K-01 a bit...look at some reviews before buying.

I am getting tempted to check the failure rate on the other big suppliers. It would take me a long time to rebuild my lens collection, though...and nobody else makes primes like Pentax. (not that I have many of those

I have found the Camera Store in Calgary to be quite helpful. I guess it's because I bought it from them and have been friendly. I am hoping that I will get both replaced. The lens because it is in for the second time and the body because that is a common flaw and often a repair goes back for a re-repair.

It seems to me that the latest firmware update fixed the mirror flap problem. Mine doesn't do it anymore, anyway. They didn't admit to fixing any problem related to the mirror, but they did say that they updated the firmware as a courtesy. The day I got it back in the mail was the day they released that firmware update. That is where my assumption comes from, anyway.

As to the DA*, mine seems just fine now. Probably I am just a filthy pig. You should have nothing to worry about.:]
