I live alone, and use fewer than half the rooms in my house. Yet, I own 2 vacuum cleaners, a shop vac, a carpet shampooer, a steamer, a swiffer, and several varieties of mops and brooms - all of which I've bought since moving into this house, 2 years ago.

The only time I get sore from cleaning is when I steam clean the ceilings. I don't do overhead work well.

Electric bill is pretty low, except when my husband comes over and runs the basement space heaters incessantly.

I'm out of the house 12+ hours/day. My computer is a fairly low-energy laptop. The furnace, water heater, and dryer are all gas. I don't watch tv and only run the dish washer 1-2 times/week.
