What was the question again?
Oh yeah. What am I doing here, given that I already waste way too much time on online forums?
Or something like that.
Anyway, I see my Chaplain is here, so that's good.
I think I recognize a few other people too.

What part of NS are you in (if I may ask)? I'm presently living in deepest darkest Dartmouth.

Hello, you purine nucleoside comprising a molecule of adenine attached to a ribose sugar molecule (ribofuranose) moiety via a β-N9-glycosidic bond.
I have no idea what any of that meant.
(What would I do without Wikipedia, anyway?)

What are the odds of there being three of us, none of ever having met the others, in the same small underpopulated province using the same set of forums?

I'm in the Spring Garden Road area, Brother Daniel.
Borealis, yes, that is funny!

I have always loved Spring Garden Road, though it's been somewhat corporatised in the past 20 years. Back in the 70s a local poet (Rick Rofih, maybe?) wrote a poem called There's No Religion Like Spring Garden Road. He plastered copies of it everywhere, and it was generally loved for the title alone. No one remembers any of the words.
That was in the slightly post hippie era, when Victoria Park was no longer occupied by throngs of stoned longhaired young people, the American draft dodgers had assimilated or gone back home, you could still sit on the wall in front of the Lord Nelson Hotel, and women had finally been permitted to enter taverns.
it's still a street that's hugely popular with pedestrians, in spite of the heavy traffic. Always try to walk it when I'm in town.

I've been here since 1999, though I also lived here (then also in Dartmouth) in 1982-1988. I was an undergrad at Dal in 1984-1988, and usually walked Spring Garden Road on the way home. (I took the ferry, but otherwise walked. If I got the timing right on arriving at the ferry, then the whole trip was about an hour and a quarter.)

I lived in Dartmouth from 1974 to 77, in a house near the highest point of land, off Portland St., and worked in Halifax, so I ferried back and forth every day. But I used a Mercier 10 speed bicycle, scaring myself half to death freewheeling down the steep part of Portland, and taking it across on the ferry so late in winter (not many mountain bikes with big tires available then) the ferrymen used to joke with me about putting snow chains on my tires.
I left Halifax in 1986, so we overlapped, Bro D. We used to take our daycare children on the ferry often, usually spent time at the little playground by the 'rocks from around the world' pyramid. We might even have briefly met on the ferry. :)

Nearly that many degree-granting institutions, probably. :D

IIRC the context behind that note was when I mentioned my brother in Ireland whose whole family (himself, his wife, and their 5 offspring) go about their town together on 7 unicycles. For realz. I have seen photos.

I missed this post with my newpage-crosspost yesterday.
Insert (heh) standard disclaimers about my role having been relatively minor, though lots of fun.
