I know. People often remark on that. The thing staggers like a live thing, what a bastard. Same feeling when it's sliding around on ice, reminds one, rather horrifyingly, of the slipping on ice scene in Bambi.

The pleasure derived from the kick would have been due to the anticipated result: The machine copes with it very well, which in turn demonstrates human ingenuity. Pride rather than sadism, and perhaps a certain amount of childlike enjoyment that comes from the manipulation of toys.

Oh, definitely. I didn't think otherwise, and it was an important demonstration of the machine's abilities. One knows that, but there's the uneasiness triggered by the movement, which is remarkably similar to how a colt, say, might react to a hard push.
Slipping into an uncanny valley a lot of people hadn't considered - we find we are just as leery of robots when they remind us too much of live animals as well as people.
