so you got seer huh? How do you choose who to view and how do you leave breadcrumbs that will make sense once you're dead without giving yourself away?

Don't view people who seem town. Don't view people who seem scummy. Don't view people who aren't likely to live to day 3/4. Prioritize people who are good as scum. I advise not breadcrumbing at all. Scum watch for it and it tends to just get you killed earlier.

Choosing view targets:
* View players who are likely to be alive by endgame or, at least, by the time one outs.
* View players that, if town, scum wouldn't ordinarily want to use an NK on. If one can out and clear such a player, it complicates the scum NK plans.
* View low-info players who have few substantial interactions with others (but be careful about being baited by the don... players with a history of minimal participation irrespective of alignment are the safest targets).
* View players who are likely to be up for lynch tomorrow (but be careful about being baited by the don...).
* One can do worse than picking a random view target.
Leaving breadcrumbs:
* Wish I knew.
* Establishing a meta of leaving breadcrumbs irrespective of role as CGI indicated might help.

View yourself Night one to make sure you're not a paranoid cop. Or wait... is that not common here?

you should never waste a view to test yourself. you only get like 3-4 views tops and there are 15-20 townies to sacrifice. better to lose a townie than a view.

wrt bold...if I am town and our seer did not leave any breadcrumbs then I will think that they are a terrible seer. Clearing town is as good as catching scum, IMO. Gib totally mindfucked us in this recent game cos he cleared 2 players. He played the role exactly how it should be played.

I think you'll find most games at MR have taken on the pattern of this one... more or less

Yeah, there's a definite trend.

Good thoughts there.
No one has talked about the 'view the mayor' chestnut

It's a chestnut.
The first few games I played everybody seemed to take it as given that the seer would view the mayor the first night. Then some people stopped doing it automatically and other people would get annoyed about that. Then everybody stopped thinking it was all that useful and stopped worrying about it.

Resist the temptation to view the person you've been fosing and going after all day, if they are town then your overnight 180 on them will be very obvious to scum.

Should the seer take advice on who to view from the game thread? Like, when players start saying "If I was the seer, I'd view X tonight", does it make sense to follow other people's hunches, or is that scum trap territory?

put in your move every night
you'd think this would be obvious, but after GMing a bunch of games, I've discovered that it isn't

I take it as my job to try and clear as many players as I can. If I find scum along the way that's even better.
