Inspired by the seer suggestion thread.

When I play vig I usually use my gut. That's worked pretty well in the games I've vigged in. Although I'm toying with the idea of just killing people who have crossed me in previous games next time.

I try to play all town/indie roles thinking like a vig.

one of my favorite games of all time, I was a day-vig mason combo. most fun I think I've ever had in mafia.

No, no . . . I didn't like how that particular game turned out.

Town vig is my nightmare role. :looksill:

Seriously, I fucking suck at it. I don't ever want that role again. SK would fine though, since there is not the pressure of being solely town affliated.

I always get worried about letting my team down. :(

One good strategy is to go for the person town didn't lynch. If two were up for lynch kill the one that skated.

It's the role i get most stressed about as well.

That was a great game. :D I remember it very well, you and grit working together and tricking scum to thinking that you were the day vig. or maybe it was the other way around

The time I was vig (3-shot vig), I didn't care for it much. All it really meant to me was I could be cleared. And honestly, I don't remember how that game turned out. I actually prefer vanilla town, not because I don't want the pressure of a role, but because I like trying to figure out things without an edge.

I might actually play a vanilla game next time I get vig, until it is obvious to make a kill(s).

I hate playing vig. I once killed four town in a row. Using that second bw approach, I believe. it isn't reliable at all.

I love playing sk though. you can act like a vig and town is all happy with you, but if you accidentally massacre all the town specials in a row, there's still no guilt attached. Yay!

See, I would think that is a bad strategy...

it totally depends.

A lot of time the two leading bandwagons, especially on day 1, are both town.

The game that I was the day vig, I hit upon day-killing the leading bandwagon after a good chunk of the day had completed (at least half). We got the cardflip of the leading bandwagon and were able to look at which players were on which bandwagons and still have time to work out another lynch. It worked great for the first 2 days. Not so great the 3rd day. But, at that point there was only 1 scum left, and I don't think any of us thought we were looking for the trail of one scum at that point.

If I get the vig role, I generally kill lurkers followed by people I personally think are scummy.

I like games with a vig or sk in them - always good to have that element of chaos.

Don't think I've ever played town vig, though. I reckon I'd be like Nightson and just go with whoever I personally thought was scummy. Picking off lurkers doesn't seem too bad a strategy, either - you can never get enough info from people who don't post, except when they're dead - except that it's useful to let them lurk for a while and see whether they get FoSed, and so on.

I've only been SK once and I want another shot at it. It would be fun.

I'm hopeless at strategy and have fucked up vig kills for town more often than not. If I feel certain, then yes, kill .. otherwise I should take eric's approach and play it like vanilla town. If I survive long enough, claiming so as to get input from town on who to kill is an option, I guess.

Generally speaking I don't think you can go wrong killing lurkers. Even townie lurkers are a huge liability at endgame.

in theory i agree with Teshi, kill those people who are going to be a pain to read and who you don't want about toward endgame

i also like the idea of just playing it as vanilla unless you are fairly certain or have pouted and have town's blessing except i don't like the idea of town giving up one of their 2 methods of removing scum.

Yes, if you have pouted you don't deserve to be making your own decisions, you sook. :hehe:

gib played an amazing vig game at TR. The Stars My Destination. He was mowing down both scum teams indiscriminately.

I don't think I have ever been vig, i imagine i would guess and if i got a hit i would cheer and if i was wrong i would facepalm myself.

i would want to try it before making a strategy, first go i am pretty sure i would just wing-it.
