Links to Deviant Art, Flickr and whatnot will do me.
That reminds me: Where's Brett A? He has a really good portfolio of his work on a site like that.

it might cost more to have one, but if all it takes is to able it, I think we should.

Tech ignorance here.
Would we be able to upload directly from our computers or would we still have to store our images on a site like flickr, photobucket, etc.?
I ask because I have had no luck uploading pics to accounts I've made on several such sites over the last couple years. Things spin around and look busy, but nothing actually uploads. I should try again.

Do you have a slow web connection?
Yeah, on vbulletin you can upload pics on your hard-drive to your own collection of pictures that show up in your user profile for the forum.

Yes, I have what Bell Aliant calls high speed, but it isn't very fast. Dls faster than uls. Example: my husband is working 4000km away, has a fast connection where he is staying, so we both installed skype yesterday. I can get intermittent quite good video of him, but he sees mostly still pics of me with the occasional couple seconds of motion.
Cool! I am in favour of user galleries then.

yeah, that's your problem. Had dial-up for years because of where I live and uploading stuff was always a drag. Glad not to deal with that, anymore. And I can watch porn if I want.

What we have is faster than our old dialup, but we do live pretty far out in the woods, and there are no other reasonable choices available.

HughesNet works for me, out in the woods. 'High-speed' satellite feed.

Actually Dial-up is one of the reasons I started posting on forums. They would actually load. XD

Ha! Same here, but also because we live in an isolated area and with my husband away a lot, I found forum people prevented me becoming a mental recluse/crazy cat lady.

The gallery was not activated to start with because the founders' thinking was that MindRomp would not host members' images on the server, which would completely alleviate any concerns about the webhost company getting pissy about the server hosting pornographic images.
This stance is in transition, obviously. Avatars are now turned on, and there is a discussion somewhere about enabling profile pictures and another discussion about enabling attachments.
Personally, my only concern about adding a gallery is that it will be another area for admins to watch just in case something pornographic or illegal is added. I kinda feel like we need hammer out the larger question of hosting images in general before talking through specifically which image-based features should be activated.

Nothing wrong with pics of penis. Context matters though. So long as said member adheres to the wisdom of not working with children and animals ..
