Last time I played Monopoly I was at a party and I got really pissed over the rules. I was the only person not drinking. I'm mean when I'm sober.

I think we have a monopoly board somewhere among our games, but I kind of lost interest in playing it about 45 years ago.

This set has the original denominations which is better for the kids I suppose. The other one goes from 10k - 5m.. !

I last played when the children were younger .. Scrabble too .. The last few games were abandoned unfinished. We've all lost interest in .

I remember playing monopoly as a young girl with the older boy who lived across the street and learning what the phrase "it's not worth it" meant. Funny how little things stick in the mind.

We used to play it at family gatherings but I don't recall a single game reaching a conclusion, inevitably some anti capitalist thug would throw the board. We also had monopoly's racist cousin ghettopoly we still have the game pieces for the regular monopoly board.

We had Monopoly. Unfortunately the kids started playing it one day. A week later there were pieces strewn from one end of the house to the other. We gave them the choice; clean it up or we'd throw it out.

We don't have Monopoly any more. :sadcheer:

On the upside I do have it on my computer. And Monopoly City, a perfect blend of Monopoly and Sim City.

I last played when the children were younger .. Scrabble too .. The last few games were abandoned unfinished. We've all lost interest in .
Scrabble is still a current thing for me. My roommates and I will play this. However it can get kind of ugly because one of them always insists on making up words then insisting that we should be playing for fun and not follow the rules so strictly.... :whyyou::whyyou: It doesn't work like that!!!

Balderdash is another good one too.

I've been in 8 hour Monopoly games before. It can get ridiculous.

It can get pretty hilarious. I like being the narrator where you can laugh to yourself at what people wrote for a definition.

I LOVE Monopoly. My girls and I play it a couple of times a month. I am a slum lord. I buy up all of the cheap property and put everyone else out before they have money to build on their rich property. I also like the railroads. Another game we play quite regularly is Clue. I just taught my five year old how to play.:]

I just finished a fun game of online cat scrabble with a board and tiles with pics of cats and everything .. it was run by Gonzo at FF .. he should bring it to mindromp :yes:

Really? CE is my favourite game to play by a large margin. I love trying to convince people to ally with me and making dramatic speeches about it.

I like "The Republic of Rome" for encouraging dramatic speeches. (Every player represents a faction of senators. You're competing for status within the senate at the same time as you're cooperating to keep the republic alive. It's very easy for everyone to lose. Damn those Carthaginians!)

Oh yes. I now keep the scrabble dictionary at close hand

Agreed. I have a scrabble app on my phone that I use.. that notifies you when the other person has taken their turn. Only issue with that is that sometimes you have to wait 48 hours for them to go. but you can have a bunch of games going at once.
