I have a couple of dogs living with me. Both are crosses of shih-tzu, and both are about 5 years old.
Molly Agnes Dinkle is crossed with a mini daschound. She is cute as fuck. She is known as the 7-toe dog because she warms your feet. (she actually gets all of the toes, but her counting is seldom)
Here is her portrait, commissioned especially for MindRomp.
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee174/Darren8306/_DJK2310copy.jpg
Next is Hannah Francine Horowitz. She is crossed with a scottie (so we were told at the puppy mill where we got them) and has a fiesty attitude and a STRONG desire to do whatever it is I want her to. Wriggles like a puppy when she lays down for me. She eats poop, occasionally straight out of Molly's ass.
Smiling like it's the best thing ever.

EDIT - to add the puppies' surnames

put spicy/hot peppers into their diet, they don't notice going down, but out the back it is strong, you should only need to do it for a week or two.

nah, I am okay with screaming comically in outrage, and having them slink away from it chuckling and licking their chops.

You might think she's cute,
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x59/Hermit_graphics/Happy%20Snaps/4ae9f50e.jpg
but Mayhem is true to her name. You know how some cats bring flower pots and vases down from window sills and mantle pieces? Mayhem is not content with that. She topples entire bookcases to the ground. Both of them two metres high.
Unfortunately she is also an inveterate hunter.
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x59/Hermit_graphics/NaughtyMayhem.jpg
She tries to make up for it by also being a formidable guard-cat.
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x59/Hermit_graphics/Happy%20Snaps/78141e94.jpg
At least that's what I think. Perhaps she is merely ensuring that she has first dibs on the tender bits when I die.
Our most vicious pet. Here she is taking care of the most recent Jehovah's Witness who came to save us. Chloe savoured him instead.
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x59/Hermit_graphics/Pets%20and%20Garden/69b13cf1.jpg
Benji is as placid as ragdolls get, but he knew from a very young age how to stand his ground. Ruby (don't take your love to town), on the right, was seven then. She is 13 now.

Oh, and Benjamin also loves fishing. Our goldfish were never in any danger, though.

He is actually quite tiny. Yesterday he had to be taken to the vet to get an abscess on his left rear paw treated. Ah, the joy of shoving antibiotics down his gullet twice a day for the next ten days. He'll go back to the vet next week to be itted.

Sorry I forgot a picture. Here she is:
http://i1253.photobucket.com/albums/hh592/ashlib11/muffin.jpg
We had her 14 years, since I was 10. We think she was 4 when we got her, so she was quite old. She started refusing to eat weeks ago, but we couldn't find anything wrong with her. She kept going until Monday and then she became very weak. Eventually she couldn't stand up so she just went to sleep and didn't wake up.

Sorry to hear about so many recent losses (Ashley et al).
I was really sure my George was on the way out a few weeks ago, but he seems to have rallied. I'm not getting my hopes up, because he is 20 or thereabouts. I'm ready to act when I need to, of course, but for the moment he seems OK again.
What's the code for posting photos, please?

She is ... I found her on the streets when she was seven months old ... obviously in heat and abandoned (hence her name) ... she's such a good natured, pretty dog and has been a wonderful part of the family for almost 13 years. She's really slowing down .. her eyes are a little milky and her hearing isn't so good any more (a benefit seems to be that thunder no longer upsets her). Our other little dog, Chloe, is around 18 months old .. she's been keeping Ruby more active and interested in life, I'm sure.

Magic is black.. Ziggy grey
They are brothers. ..about 2-3 years old. Mostly housebound as the last two moggies fell victim to snakes
They have very different personalities. Magic is a lap cat and loves human attention. Ziggy is much more independent and when he wants company.. he'll ask .. and he'll look for fights as well

Not sure why .. probably the fence and the cloven hooved creature .. but this pic reminded me of the day I watched a bunch of little children gleefully running after a field mouse because it was really cute and they wanted a closer look, while the fleeing mouse was only interested in escaaaaape ... It made it to a fence, ran underneath and the children were stopped in their tracks .. A llama on the other side of the fence, curious about the drama but unaware of the hapless mouse, ambled over to the fence and trod on the mouse ... and we all watched it twitching until it died. What a cartoon.

My German Shepherd and Pit Bull recently taught the neighbor's miniature Schnauzer not to come into our yard.
There was a lot of blood, but I think she'll live. Crappy thing is they're the nicest dogs to other humans, but if you have 4 legs, get the fuck out.
Note to would-be robbers: Leave your dog (cat, squirrel, bird, etc.) at home when you break into my house.

Some time ago a neighbour moved to the Philipines and leaving a cat behind. He started meowing and smooching around us. We started feeding him and had him desexed, although he rarely ventures inside or the backyard Dogs, you know.
A bit over a week ago Tom disappeared. The bowl of kibbles was barely touched any more. Mayhem doesn't like going out the front and ginger across the road just has the occasional nibble. I left it, and the water out there anyway.
Yesterday afternoon I went shopping. As I was about to hop into the car I noticed that the bowl had been totally cleaned out. I thought no more of it. When I returned, there was Tom traipsing toward me, meowing in his usual way. I refilled the bowl, but he was more interested in rolling onto my feet and getting petted, affectionate sod that he is.
He looks a bit skinny just now, but is sure to recover. Probably got himself trapped in someone's shed or garage. Old photo.

We took a ride out to the reservoir one day after a heavy rain, just to play with the bikes in the mud. While we were taking a break and having a beer, we heard this screaming. Tracking it down we found a very small kitten high up in a tree. In the bottom of the tree, was a wet sodden mess of dead kittens, looked like they drowned. One of the guys climbed the tree and got the kitten down. She was totally freaked out, full of fleas, wet clear through, skinny as hell, and probably about 4 weeks old. I wrapped her in a towel, snugged her in my jacket, and she endured the ride home like that on the back of the bike.
I bathed her in warm water in the bathroom, and got out the kitten formula and the baby bottles, and filled her up with warm milk first. (yes, at that time we had those kinds of things on hand).
We had other cats when we brought her home, and adopted a few after her, but she outlasted them all.
24 years later, I found her on her favorite spot on the kitchen table in the sun, dead.
I still haven't gotten another cat.

I've had up to 3 cats at a time, just the one now.
The 3 I had at once were Sergeant Bluepetal, a large, lazy, peaceful, serious-minded tuxedo; Belinda Bump, a black furred, yellow-eyed evil queen full of hate for everything, and after a time and before I managed to afford to get them neutered, the one all black kitten I ended up having to keep. Bat, initially, because of his bat-like huge ears. At about four months I had him in for his distemper vaccination, from which, against all odds, he caught distemper (they were indoor city cats). Vet treated him for free, sent him home five days later with a tube of nutrient paste and not a lot of hope. He was weak and his hair was falling out and I'd moved to a different house while he was at the vet's. One of my housemates let him out.
I called the new tenants in my old house and three weeks later they called back to say they had a possible candidate in their back porch. I bicycled over, brought him home in my backpack. He could hardly stand up. Didn't leave my lap for several weeks unless he had to. His hair grew back in evenly sprinkled with small white spots, his name got upgraded to Specklebat. He lived to be 18, took to being an indoor-outdoor cat when I left the city, was a weird looking kitty, looked like mediaeval paintings of cats, small snake-like head, long body, shortish legs.

It's a Marbled Gecko. They are supposed to be quite common around here, but this is the first time I've seen one since I moved into the area about ten years ago.
I heard a commotion in the bathroom. Mayhem was acting up. Chloe was asleep in her bed, so I thought I better investigate what the problem was. Mayhem was trying to coax the gecko to run away so she could chase it down. The gecko wouldn't budge, which probably was what saved it. I locked the cat up, took some photos of the lucky reptile and released it in the garden. Half an hour later it would have had a sufficient head-start, so I let the cat out again.
Damn cat. I wish she'd leave the native fauna alone, though she makes herself quite useful keeping the rodent population in check.
