If you look at the icons beside their link info, they're getting a no-permissions warning. those guests are spider bots crawling around and trying every conceivable url. they get turned away when it's not guest-permissible.

In one case the guest was 'viewing postcard message' and my username was below that ... suggesting the guest was either viewing a postcard from me, or viewing my postcards. I know about the symbols, but didn't see one on that line ... I may have missed it, though. Will keep a better eye on that to see if it actually does happen without a symbol.

The thought had occured that the 'guest' was me, viewing my own postcard message ... but I was also showing among the members online ...
but yeah ... will keep a better eye on the symbol thing ...

So, the symbol is there ... but there are 'guests' viewing and composing postcard messages, with an online member's name showing on those guests' lines ... happens to be the same member who is showing as online and active with postcard messages ...
I've shown this to Seraph and he agrees it looks like some sort of glitch.

This is what is going on:
The links that allow you to create a pm quoting a post are visible to guests. So a bot "clicks" the Elouise link on the left side of your post. The drop down menu contains a bunch of other links, including the one that sends a PM. They click the link, which tries to create a PM addressed to "Elouise" and they get the "forbidden" message.

And several bots are honing on Elouise at the same time ... Oh, I do feel spesh :D
I've now noticed postcard messaging is being described as private messaging in the who is online window.
I've also become aware that I feel like a PITA bringing this up if there are simple explanations for it *redface*

I've fixed the whose online to display "postcard messaging". There are probably some other areas that weren't affected by the name change. I'll hunt them down and kill them.

I'm glad it's not just me. Not as intuitive.
