I must watch more movies... I enjoy when I do .. Just a case of assigning the time

I reckon about 40 would be a fair target for me... I'll only list movies I've watched for the first time and don't be surprised if there are some oldies on there.

1 The Terminal (Tom Hanks, Catherine Zeta Jones) Watchable light entertainment 5.5 .. amusing parallels with the premise of Cast Away

2 Wilbur Wants to Kill Himself ... Nice story .. 7.5

3 Beneath Clouds ... Intense on the emotions 8.5

4 Love and Other Drugs .. Nothing like as cheesy as the title suggests .. gritty love story 8.5

I would have given Source Code a seven but the end dropped it to a three and a half.

Limitless was also spoiled by the Hollywood ending.

The Number 23 was good right to the end.

And I liked the end of Hanna. And the rest of the movie.

Whilst I enjoy escaping from reality when watching a movie this just didn't hit the mark

This snippet from the Rolling Stone review best summed it up for me:

It looks slick, pricey and starry – Indiana Jones teams up with James Bond for a gunfight with space demons. But even Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig can't save a movie that's all concept, no content.

I saw an episode of this when I was on hols and thought - wow.. quirky, interesting, funny. Then I found it as a movie in the DVD shop.. and I thought... confused

So I rented it. Check out a couple of british impersonator/actors playing themselves reviewing restaurants oop north. I thought it was well done.

oh, I've watched a film .. Like Minds .. Toni Collette marvelous as always .. the film itself .. hmm described as a psychological thriller but I don't know .. it didn't thrill my psyche. It did remind me a little of The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea, but I didn't watch that this year. :)

The Thing ... It's been a long time since I've watched a movie of this genre .. I rediscovered how funny I find gruesome/horror effects in movies :D

7/10 for watchability ... and all those burly bearded men with nordic accents.

Just recently watched
Hotel New Hampshire - entertaining, good.
The Evil Dead - scary, kind of funny too. I think I'm the only person i know that hasn't seen it up until now.

I watched Hotel New Hampshire when I was like, 15 or something, and loved it. I need to watch it again.

I watched the new Three Musketeers last night. Surprisingly it was fairly true to the book. Unsurprisingly it was over the top in a Wild West kind of way. It was a good, no thinking movie.

i am not sure if i like his acting because i relate to his origins, or if he is a good actor.

Infernal Affairs - HOLY FUCKING SHIT THIS SHIT FUCKING ROCKS.

The original to "The Departed", and oddly enough the US version does not deviate all that much.

It's a little more subtle than the US version, which gives it that much more kick.

I'm going to watch "Hanna" now on DVD. I've never heard of this movie so I thought I'd look it up on imdb. I was surprised to see such a polarised set of reviews. I'm intrigued.

Scott Glenn and Tom Skerritt. It's a rehashed mini-series about 9/11. Avoid at all costs.

Actually, when I was in Movieland, I imdb'd it and read a review of a completely different film with Antonio banderas and meg Ryan. :doh:

18. Green Street Hooligans (2005) 7.5/10

British soccer violence in cinematic glory on the back of a story of an American (Elijah Wood) thrust into its midst.

I'm constantly amazed at the films that my 14 year old is drawn to. He's the least violent person I know but is enthalled by onscreen action.

Very graphic. Having grown up in London of the 70-80s this movie did push some nostalgia buttons, but as far as I know, violence around football grounds in 2005 was nothing like it was back then.

20. Little Miss Sunshine 8.5

Loved the performances in this. Especially Alan Arkin as the cocaine guzzling granddad

21. Iron Man.. 7.5 Robert Downey jr plays the same type of character in Sherlock Holmes. Himself I guess. Good entertainment for my youngest who is now watching some "M" movies. The scene where rdj and the reporter get frisky in bed, my son pipes up with "awkward". Actually there's nothing he doesn't have a one liner for.
