My excitement level page 1

Hey folks, I wanted to explain a problem I had, but not before I had a solution to suggest.

Problem:
For me, my excitement level has waned a bit, and at the worst time - opening day is coming.
I think it will be important to share our excitement around the opening time, in order to get some exciting posters to join us.
Don't get me wrong - I am excited about the idea, but for me, this all started Sat Nov 19, 2011 9:51 pm when I made my first post at 'discuss'. It's almost 2 months later and to be frank, this has been a reality for me since then. I have never doubted anyone's commitment, nor the fact that this would be a reality.

But for me, this opening is kind of anti-climactic.

The solution I propose is this:
Set a deadline (someone picked a numerology-looking date, and that's as good as any deadline) and stick to it - that will get us moving on the last items.
Pick some 'new' people who would be interested, and let their excitement lift us a bit. There are far more than just we few who were looking for something a bit different. I think we could come up with a few names at first.

I would suggest FedUpWithFaith, who I think I can reach by e-mail. I might also suggest CJ, but don't know how to reach him.

Anyway, maybe that excitement I feel I am lacking is not so important in the first little while. I think it is, but I have been wrong before...

And don't be late!

My enthusiasm hasn't waned, but my laptop time and sober time have not coincided the last few days. I'm car/phoneposting atm. tonight I promise I will revise the registration acknowledgement. let me know if there is anything I am forgetting I need to do...

My enthusiasm hasn't waned either ... but it would be good to kick this off as soon as the sign-up agreement is up, I think.

re the changes to the agreement, Cunt mentioned he'd prefer 'responsibilities' to 'core values' in the heading ... I do too ... Perhaps we can call them both?

^ sign-up agreement = registration acknowledgement

What else we need to do ... decide on allowing avatars ... images in sigs

My votes on those: Aye to hosting avatars (for the point nostrum made in the avatar thread) ... and I don't care to images in sigs (on forums where they're allowed, most people don't bother including an image .. and any that do, don't bother me)

What else ... ? thinking ...

The sign-up agreement is up.

It reads:

Yes please, hosted avs :)

I just reported a post to test it.. have a question about the blurb saying what reasons there are to report posts. See the report forum for further details.

Sounds like once the sign-up agreement is ready (no pressure ob, we all know you are having a wonderful Floridian holiday!) then yes, let's get the ball rolling.

If the sign up agreement looks good, then I'll unhook the link to the form, since that will be redundant.

I'll work a bit on the portal to bring it in line with the process.

I'll also turn on avatars - unless they are already on...

What size avatar did we settle on? 140x140, I think...I'll check and make sure that's the size.

^ yes IIRC 140x140 was the consensus (although a couple of people desired slightly bigger ones again)

Perhaps a needless quibble, but I would prefer only to promise to remove personal identifying information upon public request, rather than the more grandiose claim of 'protecting member privacy'.

The statement immediately following that one makes it clear enough:

Admin action to protect member privacy is limited to the removal of personally identifying information

In an act of unspeakable irony, I hereby irrationally claim the right to announce the launch date of mindromp.org.

At 9am GMT on Wednesday 8th January, Charlou's post to Rationalia.com announcing our existence will be made, and at 9.30am GMT we, the founders, can announce ourselves as Droms to the wider web.

Regards,

Orson Welles.
