Wait 'till they get Cassy back up and running - it gets even worse. I have to at least bookmark the werewolf page. And someone has to give you BGG coin to get an avatar and stuff. AND they use weird werewolf terminology instead of mafia terms, BUT it's a great place to play games, and they usually have 3-4 going at once.
I was even allowed to win my first game there as some kind of smiling cult-like brain-eating serial killer. The whole thing reminds of Blip and puppy games at Ratskep, with hidden puzzles, weird game items, multiple teams, and secret locations where Jerome can never find you.

Lots of people do. Excessive aggressive behavior will likely get attention. Though I don't think I've ever seen a BGG admin step into a werewolf game for behavior like that. It's mostly self moderated in that regard.
Here was the primer I sent spruce when he first played with me there:
I'm just going to spout off a bunch of random stuff because I don't know what will help the most. Some of this you probably figured out on your own, but doesn't hurt. Better to tell too much than not enough. (In this case...)
Werewolf Subforum - this is where all the game threads are posted. A whole game is in a single thread, like 2+2. - https://boardgamegeek.com/forum/58/boardgamegeek/werewolf
Subscriptions - You probably want to subscribe to the game thread if it doesn't do it by default after you post there. On the thread page, under the title, there's some links, New Thread | Printer Friendly | Subscribe | Bookmark | Thread Rolls... click Subscribe. The notifications will come through up there in the top right next to the logo. There's the unread geekmail count (envelope icon), then there's the unread subscriptions count, with a newspaper icon. Clicking that will give you a list. It should autojump you to the newest post you haven't read. In addition to highlighting the unread post boxes in red. But there's no nifty links like in this forum for "First Unread".
Quickbar - I'm a utility person. I'm probably giving you too much at this point, but whatever. You can bookmark pages up in the top right next to where it says "Quickbar" by clicking the plus button. I find it super nifty for getting around to the corners of the site I like to go to (like the Werewolf Subforum and Cassandra, I have both of them specifically in my quickbar).
Thumbs - The thumbs are like "likes". If you click the number next to it, you can see specifically who thumbed your post. People can also tip posts with that geekgold, so you might see some of that happening.
What else...?
Cassandra (or Cassy) might take a little bit of getting used to, and it's a bit harder to instruct with a game that you're in. We use that for all of our Werewolf backend stuff. I don't really remember how weird it is because it's been forever since I learned it. It controls the role pass-outs, the special role orders, etc. Ask twomillionbucks any questions when it starts and obviously he'll help you orient yourself.
There's a couple specific spots you'll find stuff. Here's a game page for a current game: http://www.thecassandraproject.org/jeremy/werewolf/game/1378607
- Mod Chat and other stuff will be under "Cassandra Communication System". You'll have a chat with the mod. If you are a wolf you'll have wolf chat there. If you are a seer, you'll put orders in there (there's actually a specific game orders tab to do so). Etc.
- Iso-ing players can be done from this screen. If you click on a number next to a players name in the player list in parenthesis, like next to Laladien it says "(113 posts)", it will pull up all the posts for just that player.
Cassandra takes care of vote tallies. It auto-scans the thread and will post on pretty frequently. Our style is a bolded [vote lemon] with the brackets.
Probably the one thing that I find myself finding really nifty in other forums is the link back in quotes. You can quote posts in the BGG forums, but there's no link back to the source.
No way to change the page sizes, everything is 25 posts per page. So you can reliably reference page numbers.
Oh! And everything is referenced in US central time zone. (They also call this "BGG time". I think the servers or something are in Dallas.) I think the default timestamp setting is in CT, so I just tend to leave it at that to make it easier on myself.
I think that's a decent primer?

the google online spreadsheets (which are shit btw but what can you do) update immediately you do anything...if you have trusted (note past tense) someone enough to give them edit rights, they can go in and, well..., break them

In my latest foray of conquering mafia on the Internetz, I HAVE INVADED CANADIA.
Unfortunately the Canadians, easily distracted by hockey, were way too slow on Admin approval of my account, so I'll be merely subbing early into a game that looks as though it might could use a few subs.
If anyone would like to invade Canadia with me, I'll post the link. It's essentially a Nightless 24 hour round game with the First nightfall scheduled for Monday at 9:00 PM PST. 17 Hogwartish players.
Unfortunately the Canadians, easily distracted by hockey, were way too slow on Admin approval of my account, so I'll be merely subbing early into a game that looks as though it might could use a few subs.

It's really a game within a game wrapped in a quandary. The poor girl 112 says pregame, "I don't think I'll be able to finish the game if I start it. sorry - I'm going to have to drop out because that's the honourable thing to do and honour is a virtue."
To which the GM replies the next day, "can you please play!??? I won't godkill you if you're inactive... we need you."
"Ok! :> But I'm not talking just inactivity; I might completely AWOL and be unable to CDC at all.", is her concession.
The game immediately starts and she posts her one and only post for the game, "I'm actually TP (townsperson) for once but probably won't be able to finish the game :sad:"
That's when I finally get Admin access to post after waiting to sign-up for 2 days, and so I offer to sub in for any need of a sub.
Day 2 wanders around with several players still absent, no mafia nightkill, and the GM posts, "BOH, Hashtag, Otherwise, Virt, Baka, and Horvat must vote this round or be killed by a rampaging hippogriff." That's when I drag Gonzo into it.
Their most prolific poster, Beluga Whale (I know, right), sums up:
"112 is nowhere to be found. Possible the scum from Hufflepuff who didn't submit a kill.
Hashtag is the only player in Slytherin that wasn't active throughout yesterday. Unless there was scheming going, Baka or Time Lord would have submitted a mafia kill if they were mafia.
Fox Mulder didn't show up to the thread yesterday until after the action deadline had passed. If someone from Gryffindor forgot to submit the mafia kill it probably was him.
Otherwise still hasn't posted anything and could be the mafia since she wasn't around to submit a kill."
After repeated prompting I finally get a reply from the GM on Day 3 (with the 112 lynch vote at 5-0), "I still haven't received any hints that someone is quitting yet"
